Summary of feedback to Raglan Structure Plan Discussion Document

The feedback received has been sorted and summarized in the following topics:

What are the most significant landscape features and characteristics that make Raglan unique and what are the biggest threats to these features and characteristics?
Should there be more incentives put in place to encourage land owners to carry out environmental enhancement and remediation works on their land? If more incentives are desirable, what type of incentives should be used and who should fund them?

Business development and more stable employment within Raglan’s CBD are critical to the successful growth of the town. What type of new businesses do you want to see in Raglan and how big should the CDB be allowed to get?
Do we want to create a more formal gateway to the town (e.g. by planting phoenix palms on the roundabout) and reinforce its identity (e.g. by defining the edge of the town with car parks, strong architecture and highlighting significant views)?
Is the current range of businesses established on and around the Raglan wharf appropriate or should other activities be provided for?
Where, within the Raglan Structure Plan Study Area, should residential development be encouraged and why?
What type and density of development should be allowed to occur along the Whaanga Coast and what level of services (e.g. sealed roads, reticulated water and wastewater) should be provided?

Should the facilities in Raglan be expanded to cater for greater visitor numbers during peak times or would it be preferable to establish an upper limit on visitor numbers and concentrate on developing a longer visitor season?

What type of industrial activities should be provided for in Raglan (e.g. Light, Medium or Heavy Industry)?
Where is the best place for these industrial activities to be located (e.g. east, west or central Raglan) and why?
Is it preferable to group industrial activities in one place or should they be scattered throughout the Structure Plan area?

Do we need to establish a design standard for roads, walkways and stormwater management systems that is different to that found in other urban areas within the District? If we do, what kind of standard should be developed?
Is it desirable to develop a new road which links State Highway 23 with the western side of Raglan?

What additional recreational facilities are needed in Raglan and which of these should be established at the existing Recreation Centre?
