Council office location decided for Tuakau
Dominion Road will be home to the new Waikato District Council Tuakau office when it opens later this year.
The Tuakau office will provide residents with a range of services including customer delivery, building inspections, consent planning, and animal control. The office will operate in a similar way to Waikato District Council’s Huntly and Raglan offices.
Waikato District Council Chief Executive, Gavin Ion, said various site options had been considered for the Tuakau office but at the end of the day Council chose the Dominion Road site for its proximity to the town centre, accessibility, and ability to fit Council’s requirements.
“We believe the Tuakau office will be well positioned to support our new residents and ratepayers over the coming years.
“Waikato District Council is committed to having a presence in Tuakau and have signed a seven year lease on the building with rights of renewal,” Mr Ion said.
Work will begin shortly on fitting out the building, as Council hopes to have the Tuakau office completed in October, prior to the 1 November transition date.
Under the Auckland Governance arrangements, the towns of Tuakau, Pokeno and Mercer will be part of the Waikato District from 1 November this year.
The Waikato District will expand geographically to incorporate 100,000 hectares of land, and 6,800 properties currently in the Franklin District.
