Tuakau Library to become a Waikato District Library next month

Waikato District Council is excited to welcome a new addition to their Waikato District Libraries. From 11 August, the Tuakau Library on George Street will operate as a Waikato District Library.

Under the Auckland governance arrangements (Super City), Tuakau will become part of the Waikato District on 1 November 2010. The decision was made to change the Tuakau Library to a Waikato District Library early to minimise the impact on library users.

Tuakau Library Manager, Susan Fry said users are encouraged from Monday 12 July to pop in and visit the Tuakau library to pre-register for a Waikato District Libraries card.

“We would encourage our patrons to get in early and pre-register for their new library card. It is a simple process, which we are more than happy to help you with.

“Benefits of being a Waikato District Libraries member include the free four week borrowing period on all books, no renewals so books are returned quicker, no charge for ‘Hot Picks’, talking books, or magazines, and free internet access will be coming soon,” she said.

Tuakau library users will need to use a Waikato District Libraries card to borrow items from the Tuakau Library from 11 August onwards.

The new card will also entitle users to borrow items from any of the other five Waikato District Libraries in Te Kauwhata, Meremere, Huntly, Ngaruawahia, and Raglan.
