Winners announced for Huntly Garden Competition

The winners of the Huntly Best Garden Competition for 2009 were announced at a special prizegiving at the Huntly Civic Centre.

Lianne van den Bemd from Twin Rivers Arts Centre, one of the Best Garden Competition judges, said the quality of this year’s entries was very high.

The Best Garden Competition is an annual event sponsored by the Waikato District Council and the Huntly Community Board.

The winners were:

Best Overall Garden
1st – Sheree Flowerday

Best Rose Display
1st – Sheree Flowerday, 2nd – Vera Singer, 3rd – Rose Fletcher

Best Cottage Garden
1st – Sheree Flowerday, 2nd – Rose Fletcher, 3rd – A Rusden

Best Novice Garden
1st – Shirley Tomich, 2nd - A Rusden, 3rd – J Hulton

Best Container/Patio/Courtyard
1st – Shirley Tomich, 2nd – Audrey & Garry Cox, 3rd - Kerry & Scott Murray

Best Contribution to Street Appearance
1st – Jean Dodd, 2nd – Vera Singer, 3rd – Lesley Williams

Best Vegetable Garden
1st – David Patterson, 2nd – A Martin, 3rd - Audrey & Garry Cox

Best Established Garden
1st – Sheree Flowerday, 2nd – Shirley Tomich, 3rd – Wayne & Vivian Rigg

Best Ornamental Feature in Garden
1st – A & D Healey, 2nd – Chris Steward

Best Commercial/School/Church
1st – Huntly College
