If you purchase an existing food premises that has a valid Registration Certificate the registration will need to be changed into your name.
There is a small fee for change of ownership to cover the administration costs. Please note that refunds are not given for surrendered registrations, for example if a business closes.
If you intend to alter or expand the business operation, check with your environmental health officer that the premises are suitable for the new activity or purpose.
The transfer of name must be completed within 14 days of the purchase of the premises for the registration to remain valid. If there is no current registration in force and you are establishing a new food premises, you will need to apply for a new Certificate of Registration with the council.
