Roadside fencing

We'd like to ensure that all users of road reserves, from motorists to horse riders, stock drovers to children can use them safely. Fences used to contain grazing animals can pose serious safety risks for users of the grass verge.

Fences must be erected using appropriate materials that are flexible or breakable, such as electric fence standards (pigtails) or the plastic equivalent. Waratahs are not permitted as they present a considerable risk to vehicle occupants if run into.

Temporary fences must not be placed closer than three metres to the edge of the road.
