Proposed dog exercise areas in Tuakau

Tuakau is a growing community with a lot of four-legged friends. There are currently 2589 dogs registered to residents in Tuakau and we appreciate the need to provide areas for these dogs to exercise.

We are proposing to make Kowhai Reserve and reintroduce Centennial Park as off-lead dog exercise areas and want to know what you think.

Background

In 2014/15 Waikato District Council reviewed its Dog Control Bylaw and Policy and, during that process, Centennial Park was removed as an exercise area. Since that time members of the public have raised their concerns that this area was no longer available as an off-leash area exercise area. As a result of that feedback we are looking at re-establishing it as a designated dog exercise area. We have also identified that Kowhai reserve is also suitable for this purpose.
