  • Amendments to speed limit bylaw

    The New Zealand Transport Agency has recently released its Speed Management Guide. Within that document, speed limits on all roads throughout the country have been reviewed. A number of roads in the Waikato District have been identified as high risk with their current speed limits in place. Council has decided to address the high risk roads in the northern area of our district first.

    Under the Local Government Act 2002 and its amendments Councils development contributions policy must be reviewed every 3 years. Any revision to the Development Contributions Policy will take effect from 01 July 2018.

  • Proposed dog exercise areas in Pokeno and Tamahere

    Tamahere and Pokeno have a lot of four-legged friends but at the moment there are no off-lead dog exercise areas for the communities to use. Waikato District Council is proposing to make part of the Pokeno Domain and part of the river walkway of Te Awa Reserve, Te Awa Road, Tamahere a dog exercise area under the Dog Control Bylaw.

The Waikato District has challenging road and roadside environments where driver behaviour and driver error result in a high number of fatal and serious injury crashes.

    Waikato District Council is seeking feedback on the proposed Freedom Camping Bylaw 2016. This bylaw sets out the areas where freedom camping cannot occur in our district.

    The Waikato District Council Trade Waste Bylaw 2008 and the Franklin District Council Trade Waste Bylaw 2007 are both nearing their due date for review.   • Cemetery Bylaw

    The purpose of a Cemetery Bylaw is to enable the Council to regulate activities and set the standards for the operation of cemeteries under its control. Council has two existing bylaws covering cemeteries, one for the former Franklin District cemeteries and one for former Waikato District area cemeteries. Together they cover all twenty-two cemeteries under the control of the Council.

  • Reserves and Beaches Bylaw

    Waikato District Council has reviewed its existing Waikato District Council Reserves and Beaches Bylaw 2008 and Franklin District Council Beach Control Bylaw 2006. The proposed bylaw would enable Council to control certain activities on reserves and beaches administered by Council in order to ensure they may be used for the enjoyment of the entire community.
