Waikato District Council has updated its existing Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Building Policy and are now seeking your views.
The main purpose of the policy is to reduce the potential risk posed to residents in the district by dangerous, affected or insanitary buildings, improve the control of, and encourage better practice in design and construction, and to provide
a clear framework on how council will manage unsatisfactory building conditions.
Key proposed changes in the proposed Policy are outlined below:
- The removal of the Earthquake-prone portion from the policy, this is now covered under the Building Act 2004.
- The inclusion of “affected” to the heading of the policy as required by the Building Act 2004.
Consultation closed on 18 July 2018.
