Rubbish collection costs
The cost of rubbish collection is $3 for per rubbish bag and $6 per wheelie bin. Please use 60L standard rubbish bags (max 15kg) and leave space at the top to tie and lift.
Residents are welcome to use their old stock up by using 2 x $1.50 blue stickers or 2 x $3 yellow tags to meet the price increase.
$3 pink stickers and $6 green tags are available for purchase from council offices, and / or libraries and selected retailers.
Need a recycling crate?
Each household receives two free crates when they complete a new build. Replacement crates can be purchased for $23 each from council offices. For locations see our contact us page.
Recycling must be placed in the crate except cardboard and/or paper, which can be placed between or under a crate or in a cardboard box.
Tuakau wheelie bins
Only certain areas of Tuakau use wheelie bins, each household is rated for one wheelie bin.
You can order a replacement wheelie bin by calling us 0800 492 452 or visiting the Tuakau office. Wheelie bins are only offered in one size, 120L and cost $72 + $22 delivery fee.
Each wheelie bin must weigh no more than 40kg on collection day.
Where can I buy rubbish bag stickers and wheelie bin tags?
You can buy stickers and tags from Council, supermarkets, local convenience stores and service stations listed below.
The following retailers have advised they stock the pre-paid stickers. Please check they are in stock prior to visiting the store.
Our recommended retail prices (RRP) are $3.00 for PINK stickers and $6.00 for GREEN tags. You may also use old stock: two BLUE stickers equal $3.00 ($1.50 each), and two YELLOW tags equal $6.00 ($3.00 each).
