Anzac Day services 2017

Anzac Day honours our returned servicemen and women, and others who have died in war. 

Below is information about the services being held in the Waikato District on Tuesday 25 April 2017.


6.00am Dawn Parade, Ngaruawahia 
Field of Remembrance, Great South Road

5.45am Members of the public are invited to assemble on site or at the Ngaruawahia Fire Station, Herschel Street, and march down to the Field of Remembrance.

Following the Service members of the public are invited back to the RSA where a cup of tea will be provided.


11.00am Civic Service, Ngaruawahia 
War Memorial Hall, Galileo Street

A civic service to commemorate Anzac Day will be held in the War Memorial Hall, Galileo Street, Ngaruawahia.

9.00am Anzac Remembrance Service, Maramarua & Districts

Assemble at 8.45am at the Red Fox car park and march to the War Memorial Monument for a short service of Remembrance at 9.00am.  

If raining, the service will be held in the Maramarua Hall.  All schools, clubs and organisations are invited to partake in the laying of a commemorative wreath – the congregation, especially the younger generation, are invited to lay personal floral tributes.


6.00am  Dawn Parade, Huntly

Members of the public are invited to assemble at the RSA at 5.30am for the march to the cenotaph to lay wreaths at 6.00am.  The march will return to the RSA where a cup of tea will be provided.


10.00am Commemorative Service, Gordonton
Gordonton Hall and Cenotaph - State Highway 1B, Gordonton 

The two churches and the Hukanui Marae in Gordonton are joining together to commemorate Anzac Day and to provide an opportunity for the community to come together and honour the men who served in the district.

Members of the public are invited to attend the short service in the Gordonton Hall at 10.00am, then move to the laying of wreaths at the Gordonton cenotaph.  The roll will be called followed by the 'Last Post and Reveille".

6:00am Te Kauwhata dawn service

Assemble at Te Kauwhata library at 6.00am and march to the war memorial for a short service of Remembrance at 6.15am.


10:30am Te Kauwhata Remembrance Service

Assemble outside Suits & Gumboots at 10.30am and march to College Hall for a service at 10.45am. Reconvening for wreath laying as the Soldiers memorial at 12.30pm approx. 

Guest speaker is Group Captain Tim Walshe, Base Commander RNZAF base Auckland

11.00am Commemorative Service, Raglan
Cenotaph, Bow Street

Members of the public are invited to attend the service and laying of wreaths at the cenotaph, Main Street, Raglan at 11.00am.

11.00am Commemorative Service, Tuakau
Tuakau Memorial Hall, George Street

At the conclusion of the service, wreaths will be laid before the plaque at the front of the Tuakau Memorial Hall.
