Driving Out Parvo - Free vaccines and microchips for your dog!
Waikato District Council Animal Control, in partnership with Anexa Veterinary Services, is proud to bring you our first Driving Out Parvo event!
Canine parvovirus - also known as parvo - is a highly contagious virus that can be extremely life-threatening and very expensive to treat.
Dogs can get the virus by coming into contact with contaminated items like food bowls, toys, grass where infected dogs have vomited or been to the toilet, bedding, etc. The virus can survive on surfaces for up to a year, meaning that once a dog has had parvo in your home, any dogs who come into your home are at risk of getting sick if they aren’t vaccinated.
The best way to prevent this serious threat to your pup is through vaccination.
This event is specifically for whaanau in genuine need who may not otherwise be able to afford these important services.

Important Information:
- All dogs and puppies over the age of 6 weeks are able to be vaccinated.
- You must provide proof of address (e.g. rates bill, utility bill, ID with address).
- Dogs must not be sick or pregnant.
- All dogs must be on a lead, and may also need a muzzle (muzzles will be provided if needed).
- No aggressive dogs please.
No bookings needed – just turn up!
We will work as quickly as possible, however there may be some waiting time. There is a large park next to the event venue, so feel free to take your dog for a walk or bring a picnic along to enjoy while you wait.
