Waikato District Council staff will be attending the Turangawaewae Regatta this Saturday, supporting one of the district’s most significant cultural events, hosted by Turangawaewae Marae.
Held on the banks of the Waikato River in Ngaaruawaahia, the Regatta is an annual celebration of Maaori culture and heritage, featuring waka ama racing, the grand parade of waka taua, kapa haka performances, market stalls and traditional kai.
Council will have a presence at the event with staff available to chat with residents, answer questions about Council services and connect with the community.
Events like the Turangawaewae Regatta provide a great opportunity for Council to be out in the community and celebrate the cultural heritage of our district.
If you’re heading along on Saturday, come and say hello to the team and cheer on the Council's waka ama team.
