New BBQ and shelter facilities coming to local reserves

Dr John Lightbody Reserve new BBQ location under trees and near playground

We’re installing new BBQ and shelter facilities at two popular community spaces - Dr John Lightbody Reserve and Les Batkin Reserve.

Works will begin from 20 April 2026 at both locations.

Each site will receive stainless steel electric BBQs with a single cooking surface and prep area, along with a shelter. These have been selected for their durability and lower ongoing maintenance, helping ensure they remain available for community use for years to come.

Locations within each reserve have been carefully chosen based on how people already use the space, including proximity to existing facilities like seating areas and toilets, as well as access to power.

These upgrades are part of Council’s ongoing investment in community spaces creating places where people can come together, spend time outdoors, and enjoy everything our district has to offer.

We’ll continue to share updates as work gets underway and progresses.
