The Newstead Walkway will fully reopen on Saturday 23 May following the completion of bridge repair and replacement works.
The walkway was temporarily closed in April 2026 after inspections identified erosion and weather-related damage to the bridge structures, making them unsafe for public use.
Since works began our contractors have:
- installed new production piles
- completed the bridge substructure
- completed superstructure works
- installed balustrades
- carried out reinstatement and final site works.
The walkway is now safe and ready for the community to enjoy again.
