We’re planning improvements to Tamahere Drive, with construction currently scheduled for summer 2027.
The existing road pavement has reached the end of its useful life and is due for renewal. As part of the project, we are also looking at opportunities to improve parking, pedestrian facilities and road safety along this busy section of road.
The project supports the continued growth of the Tamahere area and recognises the increasing number of people using local businesses and the popular Te Awa River Ride trail.
Proposed improvements include:
- Renewal of the existing road pavement
- Removal of the current aggregate stockpile site
- Approximately 40 new diagonal parking spaces
- A designated pedestrian crossing point
- Consideration of a future speed limit reduction from 60km/h to 50km/h between St Stephen's Church and Mixture Eatery
The project is currently in the detailed design phase, with design completion expected by August 2026.
Construction is planned to begin in January 2027 and be completed before 31 March 2027.
