It’s International Dog Day, and we’re celebrating one very special former pound pup who has found his forever home and is now helping other dogs waiting for theirs.
Buster (formerly known as Zayd), has come a long way since his Waikato Pound Pup days. He has grown from a tiny pup who loved cuddles into a happy, confident boy... who still loves cuddles.
Buster’s mum Jessica says, “We adopted Buster from Waikato Pound Pups when he was a little pup. He’s now nearly three and a half and full of personality and the most entertaining dog.
From the puppy that couldn’t touch the ground yet and was shaking in the car on the way home, to the big loving boy he is today.
We are grateful we got the chance to give this guy a home, can’t imagine our home without him. He loves his people and people love him “
So, when he heard our pounds call for toys, Buster and his mum popped by for a visit and donated several soccer balls and other toys to the dogs still waiting for forever homes.
And while soccer balls might seem like a simple gift, toys make a big difference for dogs in the pound.
They help keep dogs busy, active, and happy, and can make their days feel a little brighter while they wait for the right family to come along.
On International Dog Day, Buster is a lovely reminder of what can happen when a pound pup is given a second chance and how even the smallest acts of kindness can bring joy to the dogs still waiting their turn.
