Waikato District Council and Ngaaruawaahia’s Anexa Veterinary Services are teaming up again for Driving out Parvo 2026 — a free community event to help whaanau protect their dogs with free Parvovirus (Parvo) vaccinations and microchipping.
At Waikato District Council, we know dogs are an important part of many whaanau. They’re much-loved companions, part of the family and an important part of our communities. That’s why we’re proud to support initiatives that help make it easier for dog owners to keep their pets healthy, safe and well cared for.
Looking after the wellbeing of our communities means looking after all our residents — whether they have two legs or four. By helping make preventative care more accessible, we can support responsible dog ownership, help protect our pets from serious illness and contribute to healthier, happier communities across the Waikato.
Helping drive out parvo
Parvo is a serious and highly contagious virus that can make dogs very sick. It can also be expensive to treat. The best way to protect your dog is to get them vaccinated.
Driving Out Parvo is all about making this important protection more accessible to whaanau who may not otherwise be able to afford it, while helping keep more dogs safe from Parvo.

Eastern Waikato Netball Centre, 34 Murphy Lane, Taupiri
To get your dog’s free Parvo vaccination and microchip:
- Your dog must be six weeks or older.
- You must live within the Waikato District Council area.
- Bring proof of address, such such as a phone or electricity bill, ID showing your address, or a rates notice.
- Your dog must be healthy and not pregnant.
- No booking needed — just turn up on the day.
As well as free Parvo vaccinations and microchipping, attendees can enjoy a free barbecue, dog product samples, giveaways and special event-day discounts.
Keeping everyone safe
We want the event to be a safe and stress-free day for people and pooches alike.
Please keep your dog on a lead at all times. Some dogs may need to wear a muzzle, and we’ll have muzzles available if required.
Unfortunately, aggressive dogs can’t be accommodated at the event.
So, grab your best mate, chuck them in the car and come along. Get them protected, get them microchipped, grab a feed and enjoy a yarn with the community.
No bookings. No fuss. Just good dogs, good people and a good cause.
