Application to Lease Dr John Lightbody Reserve

OPEN

Application details

The Youth Club has applied to lease the Council owned building on Dr John Lightbody Reserve land for use as a clubroom for youth activities and education.

This building was historically used as a tennis pavilion until the club dissolved. The Youth Club have since brought life back to the building and seek to formalise their occupation through the lease.

The Youth Club have also requested a transfer of the Council owned building to their Club so that they may better manage the building and will be responsible for all maintenance and upkeep costs. This request will be considered by Council as part of this process; your submissions or objections will be considered alongside this decision to determine an outcome.

Legal Description and Location

The land is legally described as Part Allot 14 Parish of Tuakau and was classified as a recreation reserve under the Reserves Act 1977.

Public notification

In accordance with Section 119 of the Reserves Act 1977, Council is required to publicly notify and invites feedback from the community.

Next Steps

Following the public notification closure date, a public hearing may be held if one is requested, otherwise the submissions/objections will be submitted along with a report to the next Council Committee for a decision on the lease application.
