Tamahere Piazza reclassification
Council is calling for submissions on the proposal to reclassify Tamahere Piazza ((Lot 1 DP 493406, and Section 3 SO 496298)) from Local Purpose (Sewage) Reserve to Local Purpose Reserve (Community Use).
The sought classification of community use better aligns with the current and intended use of the space. Tamahere Piazza functions like a civic space, with large flat hard stand areas that the Tamahere Community use to gather within the space.
The current classification of local purpose sewage, was originally used to accommodate sewage disposal for the local shops, however following the classification a different disposal method was used and no wastewater infrastructure was installed within the piazza.
As the space acts and functions as a civic space, a classification that reflects the community use has been identified as most likely to be appropriate.
