Smoother main street on the cards for Te Kauwhata

Te Kauwhata 0005

Te Kauwhata’s main street will be resealed this month to provide a smoother, more durable surface.

A new asphalt surface will be applied to the road from 10 June to 14 June 2018, which will mean Main Rd will be down to one lane traffic when work is being carried out.

The Waikato District Alliance (Waikato District Council’s partner in managing and maintaining roads) will undertake the work at night from 6pm to 6am on those days, to minimise disruption.

There will be VMS boards put up prior to the work taking place, directing drivers going through Te Kauwhata to take the Roto St-Mahi Rd route through town (and vice versa).

There will however also be stop-go traffic management in place for the lane of Main Rd that is open during the work.

Both sides of Main Rd will be open to traffic during the day.

Depending on which side of the road the work is taking place, access to parking places on Main Rd may be limited during the work at night.

The work is weather dependent, so if it is raining the work will be pushed out further in the week.

There may be some noise while the work is undertaken but this will be kept to a minimum to get the job done.

Waikato District Council thanks the Te Kauwhata community for their tolerance while this important work is being done and apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused.
