Waikato District Council launches new online offering

It’s now easier for Waikato district residents to do business with Council following the launch of their account-based online system.

The system ties a user's online account to their rates accounts, water accounts, dog registration details and more via a single email address. It was set up with an aim to improve the overall experience between Council and customer.

“The new system allows residents to take a variety of personalised actions online in a manner that was previously reserved for in-person, email or phone transactions. says General Manager – Customer Support Sue O’Gorman.

“The account-based function means that you can now transact with Council at your convenience, securely, remotely or on-the-go to best suit your needs.”

The use of this technology also supports reduction in internal processing, meaning that staff who were previously bogged down in administrative tasks will have more time to support customers where it is truly needed.

“The portal truly brings Council systems into the 21st century, connecting us with digital-first customers in a manner we did not support before.” Adds O’Gorman.

Council is working to improve and expand upon the services available online, with this launch the first of many to come.
