Rates invoice and direct debit payment update

Rates invoices will arrive a little later than usual in ratepayers’ letterboxes and email inboxes this financial year.

Invoices will arrive by 8 September, with the first instalment due on 22 September

Despite taking slightly longer than previous years, these dates are still within Council’s legislated timeframes.

With this in in mind, current direct debit arrangements ended on 16 August 2025.

And, because Council is required to give advance notice of changes, the new direct debit amounts will begin from 1 September 2025, rather than continuing immediately after 18 August.

This means no direct debit payments will be drawn between 18–31 August.

Direct debits will restart on 1 September, following the same weekly, fortnightly, or monthly cycle as before.

The new direct debit amounts have been recalculated to ensure ratepayers’ full year’s rates are paid off by 30 June 2026.

The new direct debit will be higher than last year due the rates increases that were consulted on during the Long Term Plan process earlier this year.

The total amount remains the cost of your rates, but because there are fewer direct debit payments left in the year, each payment will be slightly higher.
