Boil water notice remains in place for Gordonton and Puketaha after negative test

Boil water notice remains in place for Gordonton and Puketaha until Tuesday after a single confirmed test yesterday morning (Saturday 4 October) showed the presence of E. coli in a water sample from the Rototuna reservoir.

An EMA - Emergency Mobile Alert - was sent to affected Waikato District residents today.

Today’s test results showed no E. coli present in samples at the site, or elsewhere in the network. Despite this, the boil water notice will remain in place until at least Tuesday as three consecutive clear tests are required before a notice can be lifted.

People in the affected area are advised to boil any tap water used for drinking, food preparation or hand washing dishes. Good hygiene practices like thoroughly washing hands are also important.

Affected residents:
Only Waikato District residents supplied by the Greenhill bulk supply point, being Gordonton and Puketaha are impacted by this event. These residents are on the on-demand supply and the rural trickle feed supply network and will also be required to boil water for as long as this notice is in effect.
