Funding applications for grassroots projects that strengthen rural communities’ wellbeing and promote connectivity are now open.
The Rural Ward Fund supports rural communities that fall outside of standard funding eligibility through Community Boards and Community Committees, ensuring equitable funding access for all Waikato district residents and communities.
The fund is managed by council’s Community Voice and Choice Committee and chaired by Councillor Lisa Thomson.
“What makes our district special is the diversity and the strong mix of rural and urban communities. Rural communities bring their own character, strengths, and aspirations, and that’s what makes this fund so special—it exists to support rural communities to thrive in ways that matter most to them," Clr Lisa said.
Clr Lisa said council was focused on ensuring everyone had the opportunity to fulfil initiatives or projects that benefit their communities.
