Some dog owners in the Waikato district may be able to take advantage of reduced registration fees if they book their free property inspection before the end of January 2016.
Waikato District Council is offering to do free property fencing checks for some dog owners during December and January, which is a cost saving of $64.
Council’s Customer Delivery Manager, Sue Duignan said to be eligible for this offer people needed a history of good dog ownership, which included having appropriate fencing and housing. Good dog ownership also includes paying registration fees on time and having your dog under control at all times.
“Once dog owners pass their fencing check they would be offered cheaper dog registration fees next year,” she said.
“We are encouraging dog owners to take advantage of this special free offer and book in with Customer Delivery on 0800 492 452 as soon as they can.”
