District wide wastewater reticulation renewals

Project update

Works have begun planning, procuring, and delivering the upcoming cycle of district-wide wastewater infrastructure upgrades and renewals.
As outlined in the 2024/25 Enhanced Annual Plan and the 2024-34 Long-Term Plan, the year-one renewal programs (with multi-year options) will priorities areas with minimal delivery disruptions. This approach allows years two and three adequate time to investigate, design, and obtain necessary access approvals for pipe replacements identified in the renewal plan.
Initially categorized as “low-confidence” for 2024/25, this approval enables Watercare to accelerate procurement and streamline planning for the district-wide wastewater renewal program. The 2024-27 Wastewater Renewals Programme builds on the success and insights from the water supply renewals program, supporting efficient wastewater upgrades across the district.
