Hukanui Playground
As part of this project, we are proposing to relocate the principal's house to make way for the utilisation of the space at the rear of the reserve.
Currently, we are in the process of further defining the concept plan and project details. Our aim is to create an inviting and functional park that meets the needs of the community.
Project Update
November 2024 - Construction of a destination playground in Hukanui that will draw visitors from the wider district and Hamilton. The project was originally planned as a local playground but has been upgraded based on the community's plans to invigorate the area surrounding the Hall. The additional spend was only possible due to generous funding contributions from the Gordonton Hall Committee and WEL Energy Trust. The design for the playground was completed in consultation with local school children by Brodie Hailwood, a well-known local playground firm. The playground should open to the public in May of 2025.
