Manu Bay boat ramp improvements

Project objective

Key safety improvements were completed at the Manu Bay Boat Ramp in April 2026 ahead of the World Surf League event. The next stage of the project will involve placing a structural concrete topping on the boat ramp, within its existing footprint, to strengthen and extend the life of the structure.

The construction of this structural concrete topping is tide dependant and can only happen within a King Tide or large tide cycle.

Project update

Two construction windows were identified and planned for in September 2026 however on both occasions the swell was too large.  A further four tide windows have been identified through to Autumn 2027.  These are:
  • 19 November – 11 December 2026
  • 19 January – 9 February 2027
  • 17 February – 10 March 2027
  • 18 March – 8 April 2027.

The boat ramp may be closed on 19 November - 11 December 2026 for work to be completed. This date will be confirmed on Monday, 16 November if the weather and tide are suitable to complete the work.

We are working with stakeholders on the impacts of the other three dates, should November not proceed.
