Ngaaruawaahia water supply reticulation upgrades

Project update

This project forms part of the 2024-2027 Water Renewal Programme, with current upgrade efforts concentrating on Ngāruawāhia and Horotiu. The works focus on improving network resilience through targeted local renewals and upgrades to ageing assets, reducing operational risk and improving service reliability across the township.
Progress Update:
All works, including reinstatement, at Havelock Road are complete. The Divers Road and Birdwood Road (Horotiu) sites have also been completed in full, including complex tie-ins requiring road closures, power pole support, asbestos-handling, and isolation of critical rail crossing pipeline.
At River Road, the pipeline has been installed, tested, and partially commissioned prior to the holiday period. Final tie-in works will be completed early in the new year. To minimise disruption to sensitive stakeholders during this period, new isolation valves were installed in advance, improving operational flexibility.
Package 2 remains on track, with completed sites and early works positioning the programme for delivery in 2026.
