Pookeno Road bridge to Munro Road upgrade

This project is a vital infrastructure upgrade with the Pokeno Structure Plan, aimed at enhancing the resilience and functionality of the road network.

The decision to upgrade this road to handle the increasing traffic volumes due to population growth and development in the area.

The road was prone to congestion, leading to delays, reduced efficiency, and safety concerns. Also, this road posed challenges for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists due to inadequate road design and insufficient safety measures.

The upgrade aims to provide improved connectivity, reduce travel times, enhance road safety, and accommodate future development and population increases.

Project Updates

April 2024 - Design is completed and resource consent application has been lodged for the first half of the work.  Physical works scheduled to start in March 2024, however is dependent on the resource consent approval.
