Whatawhata Country Tennis Club Light Upgrades

Project objective

The Tennis Club currently has four halogen flood lights. These have exceeded their lifespan and are starting to fail. The project purpose is to upgrade the current flood lights with an LED alternative.

Project update

I am pleased to share the latest progress on the Whatawhata Tennis Court Lighting Project.
Work completed since the last update….
1. The project commenced last Tuesday with a site blessing led by Mātua Milton Ngarue. It was a beautiful morning. Thank you, Mātua Milton, for guiding us through the tikanga process and setting the foundation for the work ahead.
2. The contractor has begun physical works, including excavation for the main switch board near the toilet block.
3. We captured footage of the existing lighting using a drone last night. Thank you Simon and Kathy for your warm hospitality and for coordinating the teams to hold the finals ahead of the court closure for construction.
4. The court will be closed off for 3-4 weeks while the contractor finishes the physical works inside the court.
5. A temporary solar powered camera has been installed onsite to support site security and monitor activity outside of working hours. This will be removed once the project is completed.

Upcoming….
1. Removal of the existing four lighting poles and fixtures.
2. Directional drilling of new lines between the main switch board and the lighting pole locations.
3. Preparation of foundations to install the new precast concrete bases for the poles.
4. Installation of four new galvanised steel lighting poles, each approximately 15 metres in height.
5. Installation of the new switch boards.
6. Installation of associated electrical wiring.
