Waikato District Council is contracting Recon Ltd to take aerial images across the district over the summer.
Previously undertaken by manned aircraft, the images will now be taken by drone. Drones are more environmentally friendly and less disruptive to stock.
The images will be used for geographic information system mapping across council to evaluate development and assist planning.
Recon is permitted to undertake the capture via drone under their NZ CAA Pt102 certification.
