Notice is hereby given that Waikato District Council, for allowing Pukekohe Car Club, South Auckland Car Club, and Auckland Car Club to hold the North Waikato Car Rally, proposes to temporarily close a number of roads in the Te Aakau and Naike areas on Saturday 21 March 2026.
The proposed road closures are:
- Ruakiwi Rd (from Te Akau Rd to Mangiti Rd) – 8.15am to 1pm
- Mangiti Rd (full length) – 8.15am to 1pm
- Te Akau South Rd (full length) – 8.15am to 1pm
- Woodleigh Rd (full length) – 11.40am to 5pm
- Matira Rd (full length) – 11.40am to 5pm
- Baker Rd (full length) – 12.20pm to 6pm
- Wairamarama Onewhero Rd (from Baker Rd to Matakitaki Rd) - 12.20pm to 6pm
- Matakitaki Rd (full length) - 12.20pm to 6pm
The Te Aakau circuit will use the Te Akau Sports Centre as the morning base and Rally HQ, followed by the Naike circuit using the old Naike school grounds as the afternoon base and service centre.
For the proposed period of closure, the roads would be manned at intersections by clearly identifiable marshals equipped with radio communication and access will be provided in the event of an emergency.
