Waikato District Council has approved a temporary alcohol ban for Manu Bay Reserve in Raglan during the World Surf League Championship Tour.
The ban will apply from midnight 15 May to midnight 22 May 2026. This is the legal maximum of up to seven consecutive days.
During this time, alcohol must not be brought into, possessed, or consumed within the temporary alcohol ban area, unless it is purchased and consumed within an approved licensed area operating under any special licence.
The temporary alcohol ban was made under section 7 of the Waikato District Council Alcohol Control Bylaw 2020, as resolved by Council on 8 April 2026.
