To vote in the right part of the Waikato District, you need to know which ward you live in. Your ward determines which councillors you vote for.
What’s a ward?
A ward is your local area within the district. Each ward has its own set of councillors who speak for your community on the Waikato District Council.
There are seven wards across our district, and each has one or more councillors representing it.
- Awaroa-Maramarua General Ward– 2 councillors
- Huntly General ward – 1 councillor
- Newcastle-Ngāruawāhia General ward – 2 councillors
- Tamahere-Woodlands General ward – 2 councillors
- Tuakau-Pōkeno General ward – 2 councillors
- Waerenga-Whitikahu General ward – 1 councillor
- Western Districts General ward – 1 councillor
- Whāingaroa General ward – 1 councillor
- Tai Raro Takiwaa Maaori Ward – 1 councillor
- Tai Runga Takiwaa Maari Ward – 1 councillor
