If you haven’t voted yet, now is the time.

Voting isn’t just a box-ticking exercise, it’s your chance to help shape the decisions that affect your everyday life, from the roads you drive on and the parks your tamariki play in, to the services that support your whaanau, and the way our communities are represented.

Every vote matters.

Within your voting papers you’ll be voting for your next mayor, local councillors and community board members in some areas. You’ll also be having your say in the Maaori ward referendum which asks whether Maaori wards should continue beyond the 2028 local elections.

Every registered voter has the opportunity to participate and shape the future of representation in our district.

If you need to cast a special vote, please don’t leave it to the last minute.

Special voting is there for anyone who hasn’t received their papers yet, has lost or damaged their voting pack, is away from home, or enrolled/updated their details after 1 August 2025.

Make sure your forms are filled out carefully so your vote counts.

Time is short so if your voting papers are still on your kitchen bench, take a few minutes to complete and return them.

Submitting your completed papers is easy. Simply pop them into the pre-paid envelope in your voting pack and drop them off at a one of our Council offices or libraries.

Alternatively, drop your completed papers in any ballot box across the country in the next two days to make sure your vote arrives before midday this Saturday 11 October.

Please do not return your voting papers via post at this stage, they won’t arrive on time and will not be counted.

Every single vote adds to our shared strength, ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini — together, we can shape a future we can all be proud of.

Ngaa mihi,

Craig Hobbs, Chief Executive
