Plan ahead for travel to the World Surf League event in Raglan

Raglan is getting ready to welcome the world as the World Surf League Championship Tour starts at Manu Bay this Friday.

The New Zealand Pro runs within an event window of 15–25 May, with competition expected to take place on four to six days depending on surf and weather conditions. Keep an eye on the WSL website and Instagram to check whether competition is on before you travel.

With extra visitors expected in town, residents and spectators are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra time, and check transport, parking, and access information before heading to Raglan.

No public parking at Manu Bay

There will be no public parking at Manu Bay on event days.

Parking will be restricted to authorised vehicles and event operations only.

Spectators from outside the surrounding area who cannot walk or cycle to the venue must use the Park and Ride shuttle service from Raglan Airfield.

The official Event Guide includes information on where visitors can park around town and walk to the shuttle pick-up area.

Bus service changes during the event

The regular 23 Raglan bus service between Hamilton and Raglan will continue operating during the event period.

However, from 14–25 May, the route will terminate at 72 Wainui Road instead of Manu Bay for safety reasons.

Visitors using the 23 Raglan service to attend the event should get off at 5 Wallis Street and walk over the Raglan pedestrian bridge toward the airfield to connect with the Park and Ride shuttle service.

Return services to Hamilton will depart from 7 Bow Street, outside the Raglan Library.

For more details, visit BUSIT.

Walking and cycling

Walking or cycling to Manu Bay? Please take extra care on Wainui Road, which is expected to be busier than usual with increased traffic and Park and Ride buses operating in the area.

Follow all traffic management instructions and allow extra time.
