Roading update on works planned for the 2026/27 summer season in Pookeno

Summer is shaping up to be a busy season this year with a number of major works due to start in Pookeno.

Munro Road urban upgrade and culverts 

The section of Munro Road from the intersection of Pookeno Road (future roundabout) through to Huia Road Intersection.  Detailed design is complete and we are finalising consenting and approvals.

This project is currently in its procurement and shovel-ready stage, and construction is scheduled to start mid-September to early October 2026, along Munro Road only. Please expect some delays from this time onwards.  

Pookeno Road urban upgrade 

The section of Pookeno Road from the intersection of Munro Road up to the road bridge west of Educare.

This project also has detailed design complete and is in its procurement and shovel-ready stage, and construction begins at the same time as Munro Road; mid-September to early October 2026. Please expect some delays from this time onwards. 

Council will provide further information about construction timing, traffic management and potential disruption as planning progresses.
