Community Committee elections

Community Committees are set up by the Council to deal with local issues specifically in the townships of Meremere, Te Kauwhata, and Tamahere ward. The local ward councillor for these areas is automatically appointed to the community committee as the Council representative.

Committee elections are held every three years and open to the public. All you need to do is turn up and put your name forward if you want to be a part of a group that support your community, or to vote for or against others who are also keen to stand.

Voting ensures your have a say on what’s important to you, your whānau, your hāpu, your town, your rohe and your community. The question you need to ask yourself is – Are they the best person to develop and nurture your community? If you feel your voice isn’t heard on issues that matter – it’s time to speak up!

The elections are held every three years by postal vote.

Voting has now closed. Results are now available to view.
