Council regularly provides feedback on Government legislation, strategies, plans, and policy changes that may affect Council work, our communities and environment within our district. We develop submissions to ensure the voices, needs, and priorities of our communities are heard.
- Advocate for our communities by representing local needs, values, and priorities.
- Share local knowledge and practical, real‑world experience with decision‑makers.
- Prepare for future change that may affect services, funding, or responsibilities.
- Ensure alignment between Council strategies and national or regional direction.
Joint submissions
Council works collaboratively with partners on joint submissions, this allows us to align on issues of shared interest.
Participating in joint submissions helps ensure Council can strengthen its advocacy voice on broader regional and sector-wide changes, such as the local government reforms.
Who writes submissions?
Council submissions are informed by and written by Council staff in the relevant subject matter expert teams. All submissions are approved by governance or executive leadership prior to being submitted in alignment with Councils Governance Structure 2025-2028.
To request a submission made prior to 2025, please email
