Port Waikato boat ramp

Waikato District Council has boat ramps at rivers, lakes, and coastal areas in the Waikato district. Access is readily available to most boat ramps for locals and visitors to enjoy recreational activities. 

A key system is utilised to control boat access to Lake Kainui and Lake Puketirini. These two lakes are only available to boats between October – May each year. Please contact us regarding key purchases.

Locations

Waikato District Council has boat ramps at the following locations:

  • Huntly: Lake Hakanoa, The Boatie Reserve, Waikato Esplanade Huntly West, Lake Waahi Reserve, Lake Puketirini (key access only)
  • Ngaruawahia: Waikato Esplanade Ngaruawahia (Left Bank) 
  • Horsham Downs: Lake Kainui (key access only)
  • Raglan: Cox/Lorenzen Bay Esplanades, Manu Bay Reserve, Puriri Park, Kopua Domain (Marine Parade), Raglan Wharf, Hauroto Bay, Ruapuke Beach Esplanade 
  • Te Kauwhata: Lake Waikare Reserve North, Lake Waikare Reserve East 
  • Tamahere: Narrows Reserve
  • Te Akau: Te Akau South Esplanade
  • Ohinewai: Waikato Esplanade Ohinewai (Right Bank)
  • Rangiriri: Waikato Esplanade Rangiriri (Right Bank)
  • Aotea Harbour: Te Papatapu Road 
  • Waingaro: Waingaro Landing 
  • Meremere:  Island Block Road
