There’s loads of exciting things happening at our libraries! Check out this list of events and activities happening in our spaces.
 

  • Matariki search and find Te iwa o Matariki – The nine stars of Matariki, will be held within our library space. 

    This is designed to help people of all ages learn about the Matariki Stars. 

    This will work in a similar way to our scavenger hunts.

    Along-side this we will be offering a space on our meeting room window for customers to set their intentions for the new year.

  • This is a self-lead programme for Whaanau to engage with the community and our library resources books, games, toys, puzzles, etc, to socialise & engage with others in our library space.

    The intention is for this to be an unstructured time to have fun in the library with whaanau and meet others in the community. The resources we have are available anytime and we will encourage participants to ask staff when they want to use them.

  • Come and join in the fun at our awesome LEGO club.

    At our LEGO Club sessions children will be given a theme to build their creation – imagination and open-ended play improves literacy and language skills and aids a child’s development.

    Suitable for primary aged children – we also have DUPLO available for smaller kids.

    LEGO Club at our Tuakau Library runs every Tuesday (during school term), 3.30-4.30pm.

  • Toddler time is an interactive programme with stories and crafts, and sometimes music as well. No need to book, just come along!

    Toddler Time at our Tuakau Library runs every Tuesday (during school term), 10.45-11.15am.

  • Our world is changing and having an impact on many. Lance will speak about the effects of our changing world and how to adapt to them from what neuroscience and contemporary research reveals.

    He will cover topics on; why it is that many people are feeling overwhelmed with fluctuating emotions, how to reduce unwanted thoughts, and how to work through life’s challenges.

    Additionally, Lance will show us how to motivate and energise ourselves across the day, how to switch off at the end of a busy day, and how to have a more restful sleep. 

  • Learn to crochet with Linda!

    Learn how to read a pattern, abbreviations and how to make a square. Bring a note pad and pen, we'll supply the rest.

    The Crochet Club at our Ngaaruawaahia Library runs every second Thursday (during school term), 11am-12pm.

  • Kids aged 0 – 5 can join us to play with LEGO DUPLO! DUPLO blocks are large, colourful building blocks designed for younger children.

    As well as being great fun, DUPLO teaches problem-solving skills, creativity, teamwork, and helps to develop fine motor skills.

    Come and join in on the fun, no booking required. Children must be supervised

  • Connect with your friends and work together to solve puzzles and get to the next level! Or battle it out, using your skills to get to the top of the leaderboard!

    This is a beginner class and everyone is welcome. Come on down and give it a try.

  • Want to share your favourite reads with fellow book lovers over a cup of coffee?

    Book chat is a monthly get together for people who love reading and are keen to hear about new great reads.  

    There is no need to register. Just turn-up to one of the monthly sessions.

    Book Chat at our Tuakau Library runs on the last Wednesday of each month (except December and January) at 1.30pm.
