Free registration when you desex your dog
To get a free year of dog registration, submit your dog’s desexing certificate when you register or renew. The certificate must be from a certified veterinarian describing the dog and it must have been done within the past 12 months. The free registration applies to the next registration year.
Note: This offer does not apply to dogs classified as dangerous or classified as menacing under section 33A of the Dog Control Act 1996.
Lifetime tags
From 1 July 2026 Council replaces annual plastic tags with durable metal tags. These tags are designed to last your dog's lifetime.
When you register or renew your registration, Council will provide you with a lifetime tag.
This tag can be used on your dog’s collar and does not need to be replaced unless lost. You will still need to renew your dog’s registration online each year to keep it current.
