Reasons we issue parking tickets

A parking enforcement officer may give you an infringement notice if they believe:

  • you have illegally parked your vehicle
  • your parked vehicle does not meet the legal requirements to be on the road

Be aware: Boats, caravans, motorhomes, trailers and other types of vehicles can also be fined for parking offences.

Fees and fines

You can get fined for parking too long in a time-restricted space. Your fine will depend on how long you have overstayed.

For a vehicle weighing 3,500kg or less


For a vehicle weighing more than 3,500kg

How much parking costs

General parking is free of charge, but time limits may apply.

Good to know: There are no metered parking spaces in the Waikato district.
