To make sure dwellings are easy to locate, Council needs to maintain accurate property numbers. We will change or correct property numbers when mistakes are found or new subdivisions are created.

Why property numbers can be wrong

Property numbers can become incorrect over time.

Common reasons are:

  • historical numbering mistakes
  • the use of provisional numbers assigned at subdivision
  • new dwellings or businesses being added without assigned numbers
  • vehicle entranceways being moved and not renumbered

When your property number gets changed

We understand that it is frustrating when changes are made to your address.

Council needs to change or correct property numbers when:

  • renumbering for new subdivisions
  • historical mistakes are found

If your property number needs to be changed, Council will send you a letter detailing your new address and the date it takes effect.
