Ko Wai Maatou? | About Us
Toituu Marae Forum brings together representatives from marae across the Waikato District to share whakaaro, identify common priorities, and work in partnership with Council for the benefit of our people, whenua, and taonga.
Our relationship with Council is grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Joint Management Agreement with Waikato-Tainui, and a shared commitment to supporting thriving communities.
The Forum provides a space for marae to come together, strengthen collective understanding, raise opportunities and challenges, and contribute to decisions that impact our communities now and for future generations.
Each representative carries the voice of their marae into the Forum and takes information, opportunities, and outcomes back to their whaanau and communities.
Ngaa Marae kei te Puutake | Marae at the Heart
Marae are at the heart of Toituu Marae.
Each marae maintains its own tikanga, leadership, and decision-making processes while contributing to the collective strength of the Forum. Together, our marae share knowledge, support one another, and advocate for what matters most to our people.
The 40 marae of the Waikato District are enduring places of identity, connection, and belonging. They are centres of community life, cultural wellbeing, and resilience, and play a vital role in supporting whaanau and the wider community, particularly during times of emergency.
