Waikato District Council and Sport Waikato work in partnership for the delivery of services that support the people of the district to access play, active recreation, and sport opportunities. By working together, we will deliver a coordinated and clear pathway of activity for the provision of play active recreation and sport for the Waikato District.
The purpose of this Plan is to provide guidance and direction to organisations (e.g., sports clubs, schools, etc) who support and provide for play, active recreation, and sport in the Waikato District. It provides insights into how our community are being active, where and what barriers they are facing. Using evidence from a range of national, regional, and local sources (e.g., local play, active recreation and sport providers, community members) the plan maps current and future priorities that will enhance the participation levels and experiences of people and communities in the Waikato District.
