Early in 2013 the Ministries of Social Development, Justice, Education and Health, and the New Zealand Police launched the Waikato Social Sector Trial (WSST) in our district.
The Social Sector Trial is motivated to improve outcomes for youth aged 12–18 years in Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Raglan, Te Kauwhata and Tuakau.
A key outcome was for Waikato District Council to better engage with youth.
As a result, we've developed a Youth Engagement Plan.
